The Outer Loop wants to hear from you
If you live in the Royse City, Fate or Rockwall area, the Rockwall County Outer Loop is worth a closer look this month. The county is hosting a public hearing on the first phase, and this is your chance to see the plans and share what you think.
The hearing
Thursday, October 29, 2026, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Rockwall County Courthouse, Liberty Hall, 1111 E. Yellow Jacket Ln. #401, Rockwall
It's an open house format, so you can come and go and ask questions at your own pace. Can't make it in person? A recorded presentation goes online at 5:30 p.m. that same evening with the same materials, and it stays up for at least 15 days.
What's being planned
This round covers Phase 1 only, about 5.9 miles from SH 276 north to County Line Road. The design includes four main highway lanes, four frontage road lanes, shared use paths for walking and biking, work at eight cross streets, and a new multi level interchange at I-30.
Phase 2, which runs south from SH 276 toward SH 205, is a separate project with its own review and public input down the road.
When it could happen
This is planning and design, not construction around the corner. Rockwall County's September 2026 transportation update lists 2034 as the anticipated date the project would be ready for construction bids.

A $5 billion promise to North Texas families
The final beam is in place on Moody Children's Hospital, the 12 story heart of the new pediatric campus from Children's Health and UT Southwestern in Dallas.
When it's complete, the $5 billion campus will have 552 beds across three towers. It's planned to open in 2031. For families all across North Texas, that means more room for kids' care close to home in the years ahead.
